Level Design


My experience in level design has mostly come from external contract work for companies that needed a temporary level designer. I understand what to do to make a level that is fun and improve's the players understanding of the mechanics for almost any genre. One example of a game's level design I worked on was a stealth game with the main criteria revolving around giving the player options as how they want to approach the level, for example; either as aggresive as possible or as stealthy as possible. This freedom of gameplay I designed through different progress checkpoints that were clear enough to the player to draw them to it but vague enough to make the player feel like they are making a unique and versatile decision. The level ended up being used in their final product, and the review they gave me is given below:
